Instructional 3-Man Umpire Camp

Our instructional staff is comprised of current and former Triple-A professional umpires, current and former NCAA postseason umpires, and leaders in the umpiring community.

Currently, the clinic begins on Wednesday, July 17 at approximately 4:00 pm. The clinic concludes on Sunday, July 21st at approximately 4:00 pm or after the last live game assignment.

July 17 – July 21 | Registrations Limited

This 4-day instructional camp focuses on teaching the skills required for working three-man college level games. This camp is for experienced umpires wanting to learn the three-man system.

Camp Overview

In 2020 the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) and Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) are going to officiate their NCAA Division III baseball games with three umpires. This instructional camp prepares the experienced umpire in two-man mechanics in the three-man umpire system. An intense four-day camp with a professional approach to the instruction of three-man umpire mechanics emphasizing plate and base work augmented by live game evaluation and on-field drills and instruction.

Location

The camp hotel is The Fairfield Inn & Suites in Ashland, Virginia. Classes are held at the camp hotel. Field instruction and live games take place in the Richmond/Ashland area on surrounding fields. The camp begins on Wednesday, July 17 in the classroom at approximately 4 PM and concludes on Sunday, July 21 after the last evaluation game.

The afternoon/evening of July 17 – Classroom
July 18-19 – Classroom and on-field instruction
July 20-21 – Live game evaluations

Lodging/Travel Arrangements

Lodging is available at the camp hotel, Fairfield Inn & Suites in Ashland. A rate of $104 per night for a double (2 queens) or $94 for a single (king) is available. Umpires are responsible for making their own room reservations and paying for accommodations. Campers are responsible for their own meals.

Tuition

Register by July 1 for the early-bird rate of $350. After July 1, register at the regular rate of $400. All registrations are subject to approval. Payment does not guarantee acceptance.

Register by July 15

Registration closes on July 15 or when the capacity for this clinic is filled. Register by July 1 to get the early-bird registration rate of $350.
