Altamonte Springs/Orlando, Florida

The MAC Florida Camps are week–long, beginning on Sunday night and concluding the following Saturday. We have two, one-week camps being offered this fall.

Updated and Advanced CURRICULUM
These are advanced umpire training opportunities for non-professional umpires. This upper-level camp is designed for teaching and enhancing the skills required for NCAA conference level games. This camp is updated with material and drills to further enhance the skills of umpires attending this camp.

We concentrate on the accuracy and calibration of strike zones and layering that foundation with how to apply in actual game conditions. We provide analysis during cage sessions and live evaluation games. For mechanics and positioning on the bases, we analyze and diagnose starting positions and final positions for plays, including being prepared for secondary/potential plays. Enhanced learning and retention drills designed to reroute and improve muscle memory. Training is further enhanced by the use of aerial photography and actual game videos.

Program of Instruction
Instruction includes comprehensive classroom discussion of mechanics and techniques, NCAA Rules and CCA Mechanics, The Strike Zone, Handling Situations, Communication, Philosophy of Plate and Base Work, and Field Work and Drills. This innovative instruction prepares umpires to work three-man mechanics at the highest level of NCAA baseball.

This intense and professional approach to instruction of advanced three-man umpire mechanics is augmented with live game assignments with evaluations of on-field performance as well as post-game review.

Our staff is comprised of some of the top Professional and Collegiate Umpires, as well as CAA and MEAC Umpire Coordinator John Porter and UCU President Chris Marshall, coordinator of four NCAA Divison I conferences. Our dedicated instructors share the skills and techniques that have made them successful at the highest levels of the game.
